TICAD, US$24 b to expand heath coverage in Africa
Tokyo International Conference on Africa's Development (TICAD) focus on expand universal health coverage in Africa. Partners including World Bank Group, the Global Fund
announced a commitment of US$24 billion to accelerate
expansion of universe
health coverage in Africa.
According to World Bank data maternal mortality has improved drastically from 980 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births to 560, it still pales in comparison to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development countries
where it stand at 15. it
Most African countries are not inadequately financed in heath systems . Most African countries also are unable to provide their growing population with
access to affordable and quality health
care services.
The commitment of US$24 billion could mean a chance to achieve five years universal health coverage.
